Franco-German Gernot Rohr took charge of the Nigeria senior men’s squad, Super Eagles, for the first time on Tuesday as the team began training sessions ahead of Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania.

Rohr and a number of players could not fly to Uyo from Lagos on Monday as ARIK airline eventually cancelled their flight after many hours. But the entourage landed in Uyo just after noon on Tuesday.

On arrival at the team’s Le Meridien Hotel, Coach Rohr had a meeting with his assistants, backroom staff and players present, before the evening’s training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Trump Calls Democrats ‘Party Of Slavery’ In Minority Outreach Effort

Republican Donald Trump on Tuesday night called Democrats the “party of slavery” and praised what he called the millions of African Americans with career success, as he tries to revamp his outreach to minority voters.

Trump has made much-maligned efforts to appeal to black and Hispanic voters, groups that generally support Democrats and are expected to vote heavily for Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 election.

“The Republican Party is the party of AB.raham Lincoln,” Trump said at a rally in Everett, Washington.

“It is the Democratic Party that is the party of slavery, the party of Jim Crow and the party of opposition,” he said, referring to racial segregation laws that once existed in the American South.

The Republican nominee has said Democrats failed minority voters with economic policies that have not improved their job prospects, but his attempts have been criticized for painting a bleak view of the lives of all black and Hispanic Americans.

Clinton last week released an ad mocking Trump’s attempts to reach those groups and showing headlines about a racial discrimination lawsuit the New York real estate mogul faced in the 1970s.

A prominent supporter of Trump’s apologised on Tuesday for sending out a tweet that showed a cartoon image of Clinton in blackface.

Trump sought to correct course in Washington state on Tuesday, saying millions of black Americans “have succeeded greatly” in art, science, sports and other endeavours.
“But we must also talk about those who have been left behind, the millions suffering in disastrous conditions in so many of our inner cities,” he said.

Chris Brown has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon

Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony charge. He was arrested after Miss California accused him of threatening her with a gun and a long standoff between him and the police.

Lt. Chris Ramirez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said officers have transported Brown from his Tarzana home to downtown L.A., where he would be formally booked.

ASUU threatens to embark on strike after FG ignores demands

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) through its Lagos Zone Coordinator, Prof. Olusoji Sowande at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday, threatened to embark on a nationwide strike in regards to its demands for the implementation of its 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.

Sowande said the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on funding of state universities, breaches of the conditions of service and re-negotiation of the agreement, exclusion of Nigerian universities from Pension Management Company and non-release of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund were still being ignored. The

He said:
“The review of the agreement should have been undertaken in 2012 and 2015 but that did not happen.‎ “The implication is that our union has shown enough patriotism and understanding on these matters in the last four years.

“We are perplexed and disappointed that both the Federal and State Governments are not responding to our consistent appeals to bring about genuine transformation in the education sector, ‘’ he said.

He said they would rather not embark on a strike because it is the Students and ASUU members that end up suffering. Adding:
“It is unfortunate that the only language government appears to respect and listens to is that of industrial action like strike”.

I’m Officially Done With Nigeria – Coach Sampson Siasia Makes Shocking Revelations In Explosive Interview

In an exclusive interview interview with Vanguard, Olympic Bronze winning National U-23 team coach, Sampson Siasia, has finally broken his silence on the difficulties and experience he and his team encountered from the federal government and the nation’s football governing body.


Below are excerpts from the explosive chat;

Welcome from Rio Olympics. How does it feel?


It feels good because the end justifies the means. We wanted the gold but we are still happy with the bronze because it made Nigerians happy.

The Minister of Sports accused you of child trafficking for taking the team to Atlanta without his knowledge or consent?

How can I take a national team out of the country without the knowledge of the NFF and the Sports Ministry? I really don’t know were that was coming from. We had the plan to travel from Atlanta to Brazil on the 29th of July. But the agent who was handling that did not get us the chartered flight or pay for our tickets, but nothing actually happened and that was when I, on my own, decided to contact an agent, Greg. But the guy said he would not do anything until he saw that the money was paid into his account. After three days, the guy said he was no longer interested and even told other operators not to deal with us that we were not a serious people.

Back to the camp in Atlanta. How was it?

The first 10 days was like a hell because we had to struggle to pay for hotel accommodation and feeding because the person, Bunmi, who opted to assist us did not get the necessary support he expected. But after the first 10 days the Ministry came through the NFF and paid for our bills. But we were stranded in Atlanta because the money they said they paid to one Poopola for us to travel never came and nobody has heard anything about it.

What was your level of communication with the both the NFF and the Ministry while in Atlanta?

No, nobody called me from the ministry. The Minister was dealing with Mikel may be because he was the captain of the Olympic team. But when we had the plane issue, the Vice President called and I spoke with him like two times, the Finance Minister called and indeed the first person to call was the Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed. I must say he did a nice job to see how to solve our problem because I think the President heard about our plight and instructed that they should find a way to solver the problem.

They were, I believe, embarrassed because the issue was even on CNN every time. However, the chartered flight thing never worked out because the guy they were discussing with called me and we tried to see how to arrange the fight but there was no money sent to him and so it didn’t work out too. So the option we had was to arrive Rio the very day we were to play and that could have resulted in a walk-over of our team.

We had a chartered 36-seater flight that was to take us to arrive Rio by 2 o’clock while our game was at 9 o’clock. But the players were afraid of that flight because it was very small and when we got to the airport, Delta called thought the same Bunmi guy. In fact, they were supposed to partner with Delta but I don’t know what happened. When they heard of our plight they called him to offer a big plane to fly us the next day so as to arrive five hours before the match. Indeed we were already at the airport to fly that small plane which was paid for by a friend of mine, but when the players heard that Delta was coming, they insisted that we should wait for it. In fact they were almost dying out of fear.

When I called Mikel to tell him about the development, he said ‘I beg, please let us wait for tomorrow for the bigger plane which is safer and better’. All the players were happy and excited that we were not going to fly that small plane and perhaps that is the reason they came out to play the way they did with all their mind. Indeed Delta did a great job. Even when the CBN 46 came to the hotel, we refused to tell them about our problems because it was about Nigeria, even though every thing was already in the public domain. Talking to them would not have changed anything.

Now Delta said the cost of flying us was about $250,000 dollars but that they were not charging us. They said if we had it the money could be paid to any charity organization of mine or Mikel but we have not seen anything and that appears like another fraud. We took pictures with Delta to promote them and thank them for their support.

I am telling you what actually happened. We are still waiting to see where the money that was meant for us to fly to B.razil has gone to. Nobody has said anything. The federal government sent the money to the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the NOC said they sent the money to the airline in Florida which up till now they have not received anything, even the airline is planning to sue them for breach of contract because they were supposed to pay some money to them even if they were to cancel the arrangement.

What is your next step with the national team? 

My next step is that I am done with Nigeria for now. You can’t keep going to a place where they don’t appreciate you. It does not worth it. Sometimes it is not about the money but the approach. They seem not to appreciate the sacrifices. I know how much I have sacrificed since the team began camping two years ago. How can you keep going to people who don’t appreciate you? It does not make sense, so I am done for now. I have to go somewhere else where they will appreciate what I have done and what I can do and pay me the respect that I deserve.


Are you saying you will never come to work for Nigeria again?

No not now, I will not change my mind when the same people are there doing the same thing over and over again. If the right people come on board tomorrow then I may reconsider my position because I am also a Nigerian but truly, I will no longer work with these people.

A 50 year old mother of nine, is convinced that she is 15 months pregnant but she’s being countered by a doctor who’s saying she’s ‘just fat.‘

Linda Reeves, says she is certain a baby is growing outside her womb as she says she can feel it kicking and squirming. But despite her strong conviction she’s pregnant five scans have shown that there is nothing there, Mirror UK reports.

She said one doctor has even told her she is just ‘too fat’ and another has said she has a mental health problem and it’s a phantom pregnancy.

But she refuses to give up and is holding out hope doctors will give her a CAT scan.

Linda said:



“Nobody will take me seriously. I’ve had nine children and I know what it’s like to feel a baby inside me.
“I’ve had all the symptoms of pregnancy – sickness, backache and tiredness. I am absolutely certain that there is a baby there, but it is growing in the wrong place.”

One doctor told Linda her ‘pregnancy’ is simply due to overeating.

“He said I was just too fat. I was furious,” she said.
“I may not be the slimmest person in the world but I’ve actually lost weight because I’ve been so stressed since all this started in May last year.”

Linda says strangers regularly notice her protruding belly and ask when her baby is due. She said:

“When I tell people I’ve been pregnant for 15 months they don’t believe me. I don’t blame them.”
During a visit to her sister, Linda said she persuaded her sibling’s GP to listen into her tummy with a Doppler machine.
“I heard the baby’s heartbeat! I know that sound so well, how could I not recognise it,” she said.
“If by some chance I am wrong, then I want to know exactly what is happening inside me. What if it’s cancer? I have a right to be treated seriously.”

The mum, whose children are aged between five and 24, is desperate for a full CT scan to discover exactly what is happening inside her.

Thursday night, a giant mahogany tree fell in front of the Legon Hall, University of Ghana, which caused a huge damage to properties and blocked the main road. The tree smashed a four-wheel drive car in the process few minutes after the driver got out.

According to an eyewitness, the tree fell as a result of a pipe that had been leaking copious amounts of water under it, adding that the tree was vulnerable to falling off since it hadn’t been pruned for decades.

8 Killed As Car Bomb Rips Through Police Headquarters In Turkey

No less than eight persons have been killed and 70 people injured in a car bomb attack at a police headquarters of Cizre in Turkey’s largely Kurdish southeast on Friday.

Hospital sources had earlier revealed that nine people were killed and 64 wounded, but an official later said the toll was eight.

The explosion, which occurred at a checkpoint close to the police HQ, was caused by a lorry filled with explosives, a local state-run news agency said.

Large plumes of smoke billowed from the site in Cizre, located in Turkey’s Sirnak province bordering both Syria and Iraq, footage on CNN Turk showed.

ITV news gathered that the eight persons believed to be dead were police officers, while Reuterssuggested uncertainty on their identities, saying it was not clear whether the casualties were civilians or police officers

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but the state-run Anadolu news agency blamed it on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a militant group which has waged a three-decade insurgency for Kurdish autonomy and has been involved in almost daily clashes with security forces since a ceasefire collapsed more than a year ago.

There are fears that the number of fatalities could increase.

20 foreign shipping companies leave Nigeria over low business, over 3000 workers left jobless

20 foreign shipping companies operating in Nigeria have reportedly left the country, leaving over 3000 of their staff unemployed. According to the President of the Dockworkers Union of Nigeria (DUN), Anthony Emmanuel Nted, the Federal government’s importation policy is largely responsible for the closure of some of the shipping businesses.



The Federal government have put a ban on the importation of some commodities as part of efforts to revive the economy.
“The current government policy on importation though with the best intention seems to be wreaking more havoc on the economy and ought to be reviewed urgently” he told Guardian
He urged the Federal Government to review the ban on the importation of rice, wheat, vehicle spare parts and industrial machinery until the nation is able to produce for local consumption. Nted added that the failure to do this would encourage smuggling, diversion of ships to neighboring countries, idle ports, retrenchment of workers, unemployment and general loss of revenue to government.

Some of the companies that have left the country include Mitsui O.S.K Line, Nippon Yusen Kasha, Taiwan’s Evergreen Line, Messina Line, Hapag-Lloyd and Gold Star Line (GSL), among others.

Ayo Abdul-Waasi, a mother-of-three, who rides a tricycle (keke) for a living in order to help her husband with the upkeep of the family and educating of their kids after their businesses failed. She tells the story of how she overcomes the odds in her job to help her family.

Before November, 2014, Ayo Abdul-Waasi didn’t have the faintest clue that she would turn a tricycle driver in the city of Lagos. She had thought her business, which was hitherto booming, would continue unabated to complement her husband’s but the reverse was the case. Her business went down while her husband’s business also suffered a setback due to harsh economic situation plaguing the country. When things became hard for the family and their children’s schooling was being threatened, she decided to learn another trade that would earn her money to cater for family while her husband struggled to pay their rent and the children’s school fees.

Ayo Abdul-Waasi, a 35-year-old who lives at 7, Adeyinka Osho street in Dopemu area of Lagos state, was contemplating on a new trade she would learn when destiny caused her to meet a female tricycle driver, popularly called ‘Keke-Marwa’ at College bus stop around Pen Cinema, Lagos. She was motivated by the woman’s courage and thus, shelved her initial idea to learn a trade and she eventually learned how to drive Keke-Marwa for two days.

In a chat with source, the mother-of-three revealed that she took up the job mainly to assist her husband and to ensure that their children continued with their education, adding that she wants them to be educated up to the university level.

Journey to Tricycle business

Recalling how she found herself in driving business, Ayo said she felt that driving Keke-Marwa would afford her the opportunity to raise some money to keep her home and educate her children.

She said, “For me, learning how to drive Keke-Marwa is an act of God because when my business collapsed, I was thinking about what to do to help my family because my husband alone cannot cater for me and our three kids. The economic situation has badly affected his business as well. And because one of my three kids is in Secondary School, I knew that it is better for me to engage in doing something to assist my husband so that our children can continue their education.

“Prior to the time I decided to learn how to drive Keke-Marwa, I saw a woman at College bus stop around Pen-Cinema and I was motivated by the way she was driving the tricycle. And I told myself that if this woman can drive like this, there is nothing preventing me to also learn it and become a good tricycle driver despite that I was aware that the business is meant for the men. Although, I didn’t ask the woman any question about how she learned it or why she ventured into the business, I was only motivated by her courage.

“Also, I felt that driving Keke-Marwa would afford me the opportunity to raise some money to keep my home because when a husband knows that his wife is complementing his efforts, definitely he will be happy with such wife and there will always be happiness and joy in that home. I learned how to drive Keke-Marwa for two days and I started driving the third day despite that I have never learned driving before then.”

Challenges

Ayo noted that since the Keke-Marwa business is dominated by men, she has been insulted by her co-drivers on many occasions. She also added that she that despite the abuse, she was always at peace with them.

“I understand that men will always behave like men and I don’t overstep my boundary while dealing with them. At times some of them are angry with me especially when there is no market-when there is scarcity of passenger but I am always at peace with them and whenever they told me that I have offended them, I apologized because I don’t want anything to disrupt my business. And with my good attitude towards them, they were forced to like me and in some occasions they would allow me to load before any of them could load at the park.

“Also, since I started this business I don’t have any health issue but the only challenge I have is that my eyes were always beclouded with dust when I started and this affected my driving before I surmounted the challenge. I can say that to the glory of Allah I don’t have any issue as regards my health since I ventured into this business. I resume work at 8am and close 4pm from Monday to Friday and I use Saturdays and Sundays to be with my family because that is the reason I work, may Allah crown our efforts. I am the first female Keke driver on this Opebi-Allen axis but another female driver recently joined us on this route. I give glory to Allah that I have achieved a lot since I started driving Keke and I have not regretted doing it for any reason”, she said.

Passenger’s comments

One of the passengers simply identified as Dele, who was at Allen park when NAIJ.com was speaking with Ayo Abdul-Waasi, said that she was also surprised the first time he boarded her tricycle, adding that she has been a point of reference for him and others who has had one encounter or the other with her in the last few months.

He said, “This woman has proven that what a man can do, a woman can do, even better. And apart from her driving skills, she is also sending a serious signal to everybody especially women that no situation should make them engage in any illicit jobs like prostitution and the likes. If a woman can be so skillful in driving tricycle to earn a living, there is no excuse for men to be lazy.”

Advice for women

She advised Nigerian women not to be overwhelmed by any difficult situation they might find themselves; rather, she enjoined them to engage in any legitimate and profitable job that could help them keep their homes.

She noted, “I want to advise women generally that whatever situation they find themselves they shouldn’t engage in any illicit jobs, rather, they should try and learn a trade so that they would be able to cater for their family. They should also learn how to assist their husbands both morally and financially in raising their children because husband and wife should be helpers to each other. They should not allow their ego to deprive them of doing the right thing at the right time".

This is the shocking moment a pest controller was nearly strangled by a massive python as they filmed a reality TV show in Australia.

The man Identified as Craig Freeman, from Birmingham was left in distressed by the attack as the ten-foot reptile nearly snuffed life out of him. He was shooting for the series Deadliest Pests Down Under.

According to Birmingham Mail, the frightened man managed to escape the grip of the snake and ran to safety. The man had been selected last year along with eight others from Britain to experience pest control, Aussie style.

The 38-year-old spent three months travelling the country with a camera crew tackling the deadliest critters that Oz had to offer.

“When I saw the snake I told them they were having a laugh,” Craig told the Birmingham Mail.

“The snake’s head was bigger than my hand.

 

“The camera man had to rest the camera on his knee because he was bent over double laughing so much.

 

“I didn’t want to do it, and I just went to pieces.

 

“I kept thinking of myself on the news, getting strangled by a python on TV.

“But I thought to myself that I can’t let the Brummies down back home.

 

“I went to grab it and it went for me. It throttled me.”

Mugabe Orders Arrest Of The Entire Zimbabwean Olympic Team For Not Winning A Medal at Rio 2016

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe has instructed the Commissioner General of Zimbabwe Police Republic, Augustine Chihuri to arrest and detain the whole Zimbabwean Olympic Team members immediately the arrive at the Harare International Airport on Tuesday, August 23.

Zimbabwe which is one of the countries in the Olympics without a medal presented a team of 31 athletes. The closest any of the athletes came to win a contest was at the 8th position.

Mr. Mugabe who is incensed with the team’s performance told the Police Chief to arrest all the team members and detain them.

“We have wasted the country’s money on these rats we call athletes. If you are not ready to sacrifice and win even copper or brass medals (referring the 4th and 5th positions) as our neighbors Botswana did, then why do you go to waste our money” he said.


If we needed people to just go to Brazil to sing our national anthem and hoist our flag, we would have sent some of the beautiful girls and handsome guys from University of Zimbabwe to represent us.

He added that, the money invested in the team to represent the country could have been used to provide amenities and build schools.

La’Tiejira – a 41-year-old biological female – says she moved in Los Angeles to pursue a career in the P0rn industry in 1993. Two years later, she moved to Houston, Texas.

In 2009, she sued Leisure Time Entertainment and a man named Mark C Carriere in Indiana court, accusing them of publishing false and defamatory statements claiming she was born with both male and female body parts.

Both of those defendants in the case were in the P0rn industry, with Carriere being known at one point as ‘The King of P0rn’.

The Internet Adult Film Database lists 40 P0rn movies that Lady Paree appeared in between 1991 and 1997. Titles include Sweet Cheeks 108, Maneaters 106, Da Booty Call, and Gazongas 5.

La’Tiejira, who is currently unemployed, claimed that the statements caused her to be battered and assaulted by fans and has been at risk for violent interactions ever since.

At one point, she now claims in court documents, an ex-fan slashed her  with a knife, slicing her face open from her left temple to her lower chin on the left side, while declaring she used to be a man.

The incident left her with injuries that required 150 stitches and cosmetic surgery. She says she still has a scar that is visible on the left side of her face.

During the 2009 trial, the court found that La’Tiejira was in fact born a woman and had never undergone surgeries to alter her biological $ex.

In January 2010 she was awarded $2.5 million in compensatory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages.

But following the suit, La’Tiejira claims that the defendants continued to publish false statements that she was born a man through Facebook pages operated and managed by the social media site and Zuckerberg.

‘Such intentional, malicious, or grossly negligent publication by defendants has caused her economic and compensatory damages, as well as emotional distress and physical pain so severe that she has had to seek professional assistance to cope with the damages caused by Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg,’ court documents state.

She claims that false publications regarding her biological $ex have negatively impacted, if not effectively ended, her acting career in the adult entertainment industry.

La’Tiejira says that promoters, producers and filmmakers have ceased making any offers to her.

La’Tiejira doesn’t point to specific posts or stories she takes issue with ,but she does list a defendant named Kyle Anders, along with unnamed defendants she labels, ‘ficticious defendants A, B, C’.

According to public records a woman with La’Tiejira’s name and birth date has a rap sheet that includes a 2002 charge of engaging in organized criminal activity and another from the same year of tampering with government records.
Also, according to court documents, she has used at least 20 aliases.

When contacted by DailyMail.com, La’Tiejira asked how we got her phone number. When told that she had signed her name directly over it on the court document, she said; ‘You’re good,’ and hung up.

I Have Killed People – Arrested Eiye Cult Leader In Lagos Reveals (Photo)

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a self-confessed leader of the Eiye Confraternity, IB.rahim Balogun, aka Small Jpron, for allegedly killing five persons during different cult wars.


It was gathered that 29-year-old Small Jpron was arrested on Saturday by detectives attached to the Alade Police Division on Apata Street in the Somolu area of the state.



It was gathered that Small Jpron was arrested after some suspected cultists attacked the area on Saturday and the suspect came out with his boys for a reprisal.

Our correspondent gathered that Small Jpron allegedly organised a gang which set a house ablaze in January 2016 on Oshinfolarin Street, Bariga, during which a 65-year-old woman, Adejoke Adefuye, was burnt to death.

A police source told our correspondent that Small Jpron had been declared wanted for five murder cases in the Somolu and Bariga areas in 2016.

Speaking while being paraded at the command headquarters, Ikeja, on Wednesday, the suspect said he joined the cult to avenge the murder of his friend in 2009 by suspected Aye Confraternity members.

He said, “I am an Eiye cult leader. I joined the cult in 2009. The reason for my joining was to avenge the death of a close friend, Sunday Folorunsho, aka Small Biscuits.

“It was the Aye cult members who killed him. So, the Eiye faction approached me and said I should join them and they would help me fish out the people who killed my friend. I had a lot of boys working for me. I have killed three persons among whom were Femi Wiper and Lekan Akon.

“I cut them with knives. I shot some other victims. They were killed in the Somolu and Bariga areas. It was in the evening that Femi Wiper was killed. We were going out for a carnival during the Easter period on Alade Street in the Somolu area when a fight broke out. He was the one who first pointed a gun at me and my boys H@cked him to death.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said Small Jpron had been declared wanted by the police for multiple cases of murder. He added that the suspect was an ex-convict.

He said, “Earlier this year, there were major cult clashes, where criminal elements in the Somolu and Bariga areas engaged one another in a war of supremacy culminating in the deaths of some persons.

“The gang, led by Small Jpron, also set ablaze a house in the Pedro area in which an elderly woman was burnt to death. The suspect was the one who led the cult gang war. He is a known criminal in the Somolu area.

“He has multiple cases of murder and armed robbery which he has confessed to. Through him, we will look for other members of the gang who turned Pedro and Somolu areas into theatres of war.”
