SEE! The Reason Why The 21 Chibok Girls Were Successfully Released

The Federal Government has said it did not swap prisoners in exchange for the 21 released Chibok Girls.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Thursday revealed how the Federal Government negotiated the release of about 21 out of the more than 200 Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram more than two years.

He said the release was as a result of trust and painstaking negotiations from both sides as he denied that the government exchanged prisoners for the girls.

“Please note that this is not a swap. It is a release, the product of painstaking negotiations and trust on both sides,” Lai Mohammed told reporters in Abuja, denying claims from local sources that the girls were freed in exchange for four Boko Haram prisoners.

“As soon as the necessary confidence was built on both sides, the parties agreed on the date and the location of the release of the 21 girls,” he added.

Mohammed further revealed that the government would continue to pursue the release of the remaining girls as he said that those freed would receive medical attention and care.

“We see this as a credible first step in the eventual release of all the Chibok girls in captivity. It is also a major step in confidence-building between us as a government and the Boko Haram leadership on the issue of the Chibok girls,” he said.

Mohammed said the government would release the names of the girls after contacting their parents and verifying their identities

HOPE IN SIGHT FOR MOBILIZATION OF ALL ELIGIBLE GRADUATES - NYSC

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has disclosed that proactive efforts are being made to ensure that all prospective Corps members eligible for the 2016 Batch ‘B’ service year are mobilized.

He gave this indication during an interface with the National Association of Nigerian Students in his office.

As part of measures to facilitate the mobilization of all the eligible graduates, the DG stated that all Corps Producing Institutions had been requested to upload full list of their Senate-approved prospective corps members to the NYSC portal.

He appealed to the students’ umbrella body to cooperate with the Scheme in its genuine efforts to resolve all issues relating to hitch-free mobilization of prospective corps members for the 2016 Batch ‘B’ service year.

Earlier in his remarks, the NANS President, Aruna Kadiri, said the union leaders were in the NYSC Headquarters to seek explanation on the earlier plan to get Corps Producing Institutions to submit partial list of their eligible graduates and to discuss the ways out.

After being informed of the latest development, the students’ leaders applauded the Federal Government and the NYSC Management for the steps taken towards addressing the challenges, and assured that they would promptly transmit the information to all their members.

During a similar meeting with the NYSC Management, a delegation of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors led by its Chairman, Professor Adebiyi Daramola, said the body was concerned about the likely implications of not mobilizing all eligible graduates in the 2016 Batch ‘B’.

The meeting agreed that the Universities would upload full list of all prospective Corps members approved by their respective Senates while the NYSC would take the most appropriate decision in processing the lists.
Discussion at the meeting also centred on the need for the Vice-Chancellors to put in place internal mechanisms that would ensure credibility in the handling of mobilization data by their institutions, including avoidance of submission of names of part-time graduates, as well as strict adherence to the approved carrying capacities of the institutions.

200,000 unemployed Nigerian graduates to get jobs before end of October – Osinbajo

Implementation plans for the effective commencement of a number of the social investment programmes of the Buhari presidency has reached advanced stages as the selection of the first 200,000 unemployed graduates to get jobs is now being completed.

Speaking with a small group of radio journalists and producers at the Presidential Villa, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo disclosed that “we expect that before the end of the month, we will engage 200,000,” out of the 500,000 unemployed graduates the Buhari administration plans to hire in the N-Power jobs programme.

According to him, the direct government jobs is meant “to keep this young people occupied, pay them some amount of money and also give them a device, which will also help them to learn several skills that they can develop as time goes on.”

Prof. Osinbajo added that “we expect that before the end of this month, we should have engaged 200,000 of them and we are hoping that before the end of the year we should have engaged more.”

Similarly, Mr. Osinbajo disclosed that the Home-Grown School Feeding programme is set to kick off in several states this month.

“Definitely before the end of this month, we expect that several states would have come on stream with their Home-grown School Feeding Programmes,” the Vice President noted.
He added that the Home-Grown School Feeding programme “will energise agriculture in the different states because it is what you plant that you feed the children with, we will be hiring caterers, cooks, etc in each state because it will be Federal Government funded from Primaries 1-3 and the state governments hopefully would be able to cater for the other classes.”

According to the Vice President, the Home-Grown School Feeding programme is another section of the Social Investment programmes that impact directly on the lives of Nigerian children and families. He said several states will start implementing the Home-grown School Feeding Programme before the end of October.

Equally he stated that the Micro-Credit scheme for which the Buhari administration will give very low-cost loans to more than one million Nigerian artisans, traders, market women and other ranging from N60,000 to N100,000 would also be kicking off this month.

According to him, “for women across the country, we are giving loans, micro credit loans to about 1.5 million women. We are focusing on market women and artisans, loans between N60,000 and 100,000 each. We are working through the Bank of Industry, BOI. They are going to be giving out these loans, we‘ve already identified the banks and everybody who is involved in this. We should be flagging-off hopefully before the end of this month”
Such soft loans to the artisans, traders and market women, according to him, is meant “to boost their businesses.”

The Vice President reassured Nigerians that the current Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is well focused on ameliorating the plight of the citizens of the country, observing that the administration feels the pains of the citizens and is committed to assuaging them.

“We fully understand and appreciate the situation of things in the country and we are committed to ensuring that that pain is assuaged. The President stated that clearly in his October 1st broadcast to the nation. All his life, he has been a salary earner, he has never been a businessman, so he understands why someone who earns a salary and even those who do not, are severely ch

Upload all `authentic’ graduates for NYSC, VCs tell universities

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC) has urged universities to upload the names of all eligible graduates for the 2016 Batch `B’ of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

A statement by CVC on Tuesday in Abuja said that the committee’s stance was sequel to its meeting with the Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Sule Kazaure.

The statement was co-signed by Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, CVC’s President and Prof. Michael Faborode, the committee’s Secretary-General.

NYSC had in a memo to universities recently, directed them to cut their mobilisation for the scheme by 60 per cent due to financial constraints.

The CVC said that the stakeholders agreed with NYSC that paucity of funds was responsible for the slash in the percentage of mobilisation.

It said that its meeting resolved “that all authentic graduates of universities be uploaded by universities for NYSC to mobilise as appropriate.

“All universities are expected to comply immediately and ensure that graduates of part-time programmes and over-aged graduates are not included in their list.

“The CVC and the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) plead with the government and the National Assembly to provide resources needed for full mobilisation to stave off impending problem of partial mobilisation.

“We appeal to all graduates and prospective corps members to show understanding and exercise restraint while awaiting further directives from NYSC.’’

The statement said that the CVC meeting with NYSC authorities was preceded by one with the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission on the issue.

Suswam accuses Gov Ortom of looting Benue

You looted it for 8 years, Ortom fires backback

The brewing cold war between Governor Samuel Ortom and his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, took another turn, yesterday, after the latter accused Ortom of running a corrupt and deceitful government, saying he was prepared to go to jail for his stance against the government.

Suswam, who addressed an expanded executive committee of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Makurdi, also accused the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government in the state of militarising democratic governance by arbitrarily arresting members of PDP for no justifiable reasons.

According to Suswam, “the government has resorted to appointing sole administrators for the 23 local government areas of the state, a development that is not known in a democratic setting.

“It is for these reasons that I will continue to raise alarm and not chicken out because this government said it will throw me in jail. They should know that I am not afraid.

“Benue is in a big mess, with looting everywhere. Let us stand together so that at the right time, in 2019, we will join forces and chase this unpopular government out of Benue.”

You’re a certificate  forger—ORTOM

However, in a swift reaction, Governor Ortom accused Suswam of allegedly forging his certificates, hence his inability to appreciate the workings of the legislative arm of government.

Ortom said: “It becomes impossible to conduct local government elections because of paucity of funds. That is what led us to the appointment of sole administrators.

“Moreover, the provisions of the constitution allow the House of Assembly to make laws and amend same where necessary; that is what we did.

“People used to say that Suswam had fake and forged certificates, but I did not believe it until now. How can he accuse my government of fraud when he led an administration that looted our state for eight years?

“All we are doing is in line with the provisions of the law; all those arrested, as Suswam claimed, were people who contravened the law, most of who were arrested with arms and are making useful statements.

“There is no arbitrariness in what my government is doing as claimed by Dr. Suswam.”

Shocking!!! How BVN Exposed Corrupt Judges’ Hidden Millions Of Dollars

Barely 48 hours after the Department of State Services, DSS, had taken seven suspected corrupt judges into its custody, details of what led to their arrests and how they were picked up from their homes by operatives of the agency began to emerge last night.

Competent sources close to the operations told Vanguard that the agency could no longer watch and allow corrupt judges use their positions to engage in sabotage, subversion and espionage latching on huge proceeds of corruption.

A source said that unknown to most Nigerians, some of the judges had been collecting huge bribes to subvert the will of the people, using the proceeds to acquire choice property and build fat bank accounts without putting in enough efforts to do the job they were paid to do.
The source said that based on series of petitions from concerned Nigerians to checkmate the excesses of the corrupt judges, the DSS moved in and began a covert investigation, which finally led to the establishment of prima facie evidence against them.

“As we speak now, we have incontrovertible evidence of brazen corruption against the seven judges in our custody and we are ready to charge them to court, even tomorrow.
‘’By our own analysis, the rot in the political scene – election rigging, inter and intra-party crises and election petition trial from tribunal to Supreme Court – gave rise to the deep corruption in the judiciary.
“In the economic sphere, Nigeria lost cases to foreign investors due to the collusion of judges with foreigners, leading to the loss of hundreds of billions of Naira by the country, among them, the Malabo Oil deal where the country lost over $2 billion.

“We have the mandate not only to pre-empt and prevent but also to take necessary actions to bring the culprits of economic and financial crimes to book.
‘’That is why we are challenging those who think that our action is unconstitutional to take us to court since we cannot allow Nigeria’s security interest to be jeopardised.

“Let it be known that anybody whose action can create hardship for the rest of Nigerians must be stopped by us before the crime is committed and there is no other agency that is as capable of doing that as the DSS,’’ the source said.
It was learned that the DSS had an easy access to the bank accounts of the detained judges and actually established that they had been taking bribes from many sources in the discharge of their duties but used the names and pictures of their wives, children and siblings to open such banks account, which were not known to most of those whose names appeared in the bank ledgers.

“When we brought in most of the children, wives and relatives of the suspects based on the papers we got from the banks, they did not even have an idea that their names had been used by the judges to open such accounts.

“But you see under the Bank Verification Number, you must put in your passports, name, signature and others. So, for some of the judges, who used fake names and their wives names to open the accounts into which they paid in the proceeds of crime, they foolishly appended their signatures or used their pictures, something that gave them out.

“From what we have found out, some of the suspects acted foolishly in committing the offence because they cannot prove that even if their children were to earn N1 million monthly since they were born till date, none of them can accumulate the amount of money we have traced to their accounts and the type of property they have.
“Look, it may interest you to know that one of the two Supreme Court judges in our custody has a property worth N1.5 billion in one of the South-South states. If we may ask, where did he get the money to set up such project?”

“As far as we are concerned, there is nothing unusual in arresting corrupt judges and taking them to court because it would be an offence against the nation to continue to turn a blind eye to

I did not enlarge my buttocks, instead I reduced it – Actress, Empress Njamah

Long time actress, Empress Njamah has said people saying she enhanced her buttocks to make them big are learners and as a matter of fact they actually don’t see well.

According to her, she ‘enhanced’ it naturally by losing some body weight which automatically made her butts reduce and it was on purpose.

Speaking with Kemi Lanre Aremu, the actress said;

I did not enhance my buttocks. I have always had big buttocks. Whoever says I tampered with my bottom is a learner.

I actually reduced my buttocks because I used to like to wear a particular design and size. As a result, I had to lose weight to fit into it. My bottom reduced when I lost some weight. I’m not against people enhancing their bodies.

They have their reasons for doing so but I would rather go to the gym than go under the knife because the after-effect of surgery is worse than going to the gym.

If you really want to enhance your body, you can exercise and get the natural enhancement.

Corruption, not Judiciary under attack – President Buhari finally speaks on arrest of ‘Corrupt’ Judges

In an official statement by Garba Shehu, presidential media adviser, President Muhammadu Buhari has made his first official reaction to the arrest of seven senior judges between Friday night and Saturday morning, saying that the raids on the judges’ residence by the Department of State Security Service (DSS), was an assault on corruption and not on the judiciary.

It was earlier reported over the weekend that an agent of the Department of State Services (DSS), Garba Abdullahi, said it raided the homes of seven judges, including two of the Supreme Court, across the country over allegations of corruption levelled against them, adding that it found $2million stashed in the house of one of the judges.

In the statement by Garba Shehu, the presidency described the raids as ‘surgical’ saying due process was followed in the arrests.

Corruption, not judiciary under attack

The Presidency assures that the President reserves his highest respect for the institution of the judiciary as the third arm of government.

To this end, the President will not do anything to undermine its independence.

President Buhari remains a committed democrat, in words and in his action, and will not take any action in violation of the constitution.

The recent surgical operation against some judicial officers is specifically targeted at corruption and not at the judiciary as an institution.

In a robust democracy such as ours, there is bound to be a plurality of opinions on any given issue, but there is a convergence of views that the country has a corruption problem that needs to be corrected.

But reports by a section of the media are giving us cause for concern.

In undertaking the task of reporting, the media should be careful about the fault lines they open. It is wrong to present this incident as a confrontation between the executive and judicial arms of government.

The Presidency has received assurances from the DSS that all due processes of the law, including the possession of search and arrest warrants were obtained before the searches.

To suggest that the government is acting outside the law in a dictatorial manner is to breach the interest of the state.
