Euro2016: Modric secret message to the goalkeeper before Sergio Ramos penalty miss revealed

Croatia goalkeeper reveals Luka Modric's message before Sergio Ramos' penalty

Croatia have Luka Modric to thank after the Real Madrid star helped Danijel Subasic save Sergio Ramos' penalty.

Tuesday's European Championship tie between Croatia and Spain was tied at 1-1 when David Silva was brought down inside the box.

And moments before Ramos stepped up to take the ensuing penalty, Darijo Srna was seen relaying a message to Subasic sent from Modric.

Of course, Modric and Ramos are teammates at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But they were rivals last night in Bordeaux, and it was Modric who came out on top.

Subasic revealed Modric's message after the game.

"Luka Modric sent a message through Srna to wait for Ramos and that he will shoot to my right side. And that's what happened."

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

The penalty miss occurred in the 72nd minute. 15 minutes later, Ivan Perisic secured Croatia's victory with a neat strike.

Yet it didn't look like being a successful night for Croatia when Alvaro Morata put La Roja ahead in the seventh minute.

However, Nikola Kalinic levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time, before the game's incredible finish.
