Some photos of Benue residents fleeing their various villages following several attacks by Fulani herdsmen have gone viral.
The Breaking Times reports that the pictures were taken along the road in Nenzev ward in Logo LGA Benue state. The entire ward is on the run from fulani attack, sources reveal. Residents in Benue fleeing Fulani herdsmen attacks in Benue state. Sources further revealed that the fleeing residents were heading towards Ugba town the headquarters of the LGA. Many of them would have to cover 16 to 30 kilometers on foot to reach Ugba. An appeal was made, urging the Benue state government and the federal government to do something urgently, to ensure that these people do not continue to live like strangers in their fatherland. In a related development about three kidnapped girls have been rescued from Fulani rustlers in Ningi local government area of Bauchi state. According to a statement issued by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, the rescue operation was carried out following information by some members of the public. The statement reads: “Following received information from well meaning members of the public, troops of Forward Operation Base (FOB), Ningi of 33 Artillery Brigade conducted a fighting patrol at Dutsen Dumburum, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State yesterday, Saturday 18th June 2016. “Earlier intelligence reports confirmed the presence of kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the locality which made the troops to swing into action by organizing a fighting patrol to the area.”
