workers shut down Ministry of Finance

The headquarters of the federal Ministry of Finance has been shut down by civil servants due to what they considered poor welfare since Mrs Kemi Adeosun assumed office. The Punch reports that the civil servants in an act of protest shut down the ministry in Abuja on Monday, Jun He workers numbering about 100 expressed disappointments over the non-payment of their entitlements and that unless their demands are met, they will continue to the protest. The protesters prevented people from gaining entrance into the building by locking all the entrances into the ministry. They complained that in the past, they were entitled to overtime allowances, training and other welfare packages but those things have changed now. A worker who was also involved in the protest and spoke on the condition of anonymity claimed a lot of people at the ministry were unhappy. “Things have not been going on well at the ministry, overtime had not been paid to us as well as other entitlements. “A lot of people in this ministry are not happy because of poor staff welfare condition and that is the reason why we have all come out to protest for the world to know what has been going on in this ministry.”
