A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy dies at a water park in Leicestershire

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy died at a water park in Leicestershire yesterday, sparking a double arrest.

The 5-year-old boy died at Bosworth Water Park yesterday afternoon
The man and a woman are now in police custody after the incident at Bosworth Water Park at around 3.50pm.

The boy was rushed to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire after attending the Leicestershire site but subsequently died.

A police spokesman said: "An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death. Two people, a man and woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody.

"We would ask that people do not speculate about the incident and the circumstances surrounding the death and leave the authorities to carry out their investigations.


The park closed yesterday while it investigated the tragic incident
"If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist with our enquiries please contact us. Equally if you recorded any video footage at the park yesterday around the blue lagoon beach we’d like to speak to you."

The park's official Twitter account posted after the incident: "Due to an incident today the park is now closed to all members of the public whilst investigation work is carried out."

It later added on its Facebook account: "From all of the staff at Bosworth Water Park we would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to everyone effected by this tragic loss of life."

The park's owner Nigel Riley said it was a "dreadful incident".
